Delivering compassionate Ob/Gyn care at the Calexico Wellness Center, Dr. Austin Kooba is a longtime California physician. He is experienced in prenatal care and assists patients in navigating menopause and its hormonal effects. Also performing annual women’s health exams, he delivers services spanning contraception and irregular bleeding. Austin Kooba has experience with the Permanente Medical Group in Santa Rosa, including providing family medicine physicians with instruction in gynecological diagnosis and procedures.
As medical director for maternal/child at Kaiser Santa Rosa, he oversaw the establishment of diagnosis and management protocol spanning health issues like pre-term labor, emergent cesarean birth, preeclampsia, and postpartum hemorrhage. He also served as the wound infection chair for the Group and established protocols to minimize surgical wound infections. His efforts included ensuring standardized diagnostic and treatment protocols, and he co-chaired the Perinatal Patient Safety Project.
Dr. Austin Kooba’s decision to enter the medical field reflects personal experience supporting his mother in a fight against terminal breast cancer. He views his work as a vocation rather than a job and takes pride in working with underserved members of the community to advance health equity for all.
